Metabolic Health

Evidence-based support for women experiencing weight changes, insulin resistance or metabolic health concerns, with a focus on sustainable strategies, medical assessment and long-term health outcomes. Appropriate counselling to prevent a cycle of weight-loss/weight-regain. When appropriate, we work with a team to assist a woman holistically, including dietetics, physiotherapy, psychology & exercise physiology.

Example concerns

  • Weight gain during perimenopause or post-menopause

  • Insulin resistance or metabolic dysfunction

  • Body composition changes

  • Medical weight management

  • Lifestyle and nutrition support as part of a broader plan

  • Review of appropriate medication options where indicated

Mental Health

Hormonal changes can have a significant impact on emotional wellbeing. PMS provides assessment and evidence-based management of mood symptoms associated with hormonal transitions, recognising the complex interaction between hormones, mental health and overall wellbeing. Where appropriate, we work collaboratively with psychologists, psychiatrists and other members of your healthcare team to provide comprehensive care.

Example Concerns

  • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)

  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)

  • Mood changes during perimenopause

  • Anxiety associated with hormonal transition

  • Low mood related to menopause

  • Increased emotional sensitivity or irritability

  • Hormone-related changes affecting quality of life

Preventative Health

Medicine often focuses on life-span, instead of health-span. Hormonal healthcare should support not only symptom relief, but also the years ahead. PMS incorporates prevention-focused care to help optimise long-term health, function and health-span, helping you to live independently and maintain function as long as possible.

Example concerns

  • Cardiovascular risk assessment & management

  • Bone health and osteoporosis prevention

  • Dementia risk assessment & prevention

  • Metabolic risk and long-term weight-related health

  • Healthy ageing strategies

  • Preventative screening and monitoring

  • Long-term wellbeing through hormonal transition
